Aurora, CO - The Aurora Fox's Staged Reading Series continues Tuesday, February 7th at 7pm in the Aurora Fox Studio Theatre (9900 East Colfax Avenue, Aurora CO 80010). Tickets are free for Season Ticket Holders, $5 for the general public. No reservations necessary.
Blackbird is a riveting play that raises challenging questions about society, morality, and how the past irrevocably effects the present. Based on a true story, Blackbird is about a sexual relationship that transforms, cripples, paralyzes and renders the characters fully exposed. What is completely stripped away, in a process as unavoidable as it is painful, is a full armor of defenses that a man and woman have assembled with watchful care in the 15 years since they last saw each other when Ray was around 40 and Una was 12. Labeled by society as "abuse" their affair plays out with an innocence that suggests "love". Nevertheless, the consequences are shattering.
"Blackbird is theater at its most elemental: one man, one woman, and a head-to-head confrontation, about events long past, that occurs in real time. Its characters are not well spoken or even particularly insightful. What emerges as truth - which is less a matter of facts than of feeling - occurs despite themselves".
