THE POSITION Performs a variety of tasks to coordinate all technical areas of the Aurora Fox Arts Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides a safe environment for all Fox employees, artists, guests, and customers while achieving the highest possible level of artistry in scenery, lighting, sound, and other technical elements for all Fox events. Develops and executes plans for complex scenic and other projects. Completes all projects on-time and on-budget. Many projects are to be completed alone. Negotiates pay rates for specialist labor, coordinates work schedules, and appraises quality and productivity. Supervises the technical production of Center events which includes construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of all scenery, stage mechanics, and lighting; operates a variety of tools and equipment related to the maintenance and technical production functions; plans, writes, and implements regular maintenance/replacement schedule for all technical and electrical systems and scenery/stage equipment; conducts and maintains written and annual inventory of technical equipment; coordinates and oversees the use of stage, backstage, control room, shop/storage, and rehearsal space; attends all production meetings and all other meetings as required; oversees purchasing for scenic department; coordinates with scenic designers on feasibility of scenic designs; participates in coordinating lighting, sound, costume, and prop departments; acts as house tech for rental events; participates in the running of all Aurora Fox theatre productions; and performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Theatre with emphasis in Technical Theatre or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: At least four years technical production experience in a theatrical or arts environment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge: Knowledge of methods, techniques, tools, and equipment used in theatrical design and production; maintenance and operation of stage equipment; and applicable safety practices and procedures.
Abilities: Ability to complete some scenic projects with little or no help. General and specialized laborers are hired as specific projects demand. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, and citizens; handle sensitive and stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; train and instruct other employees; keep and maintain accurate records; organize and schedule tools, materials, and equipment; contract labor; work evenings and weekends as needed.
Skills: Skill in use of tools, specialized equipment, methods and safety practices common to maintenance and use of theatrical production equipment; strong interpersonal skills; computer skills in Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
Licenses, Equipment, or Certificates Required: A valid Colorado Driver's License with a good driving record. This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Demands: Moderate to heavy physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 100 pounds; frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 50 pounds; considerable walking and standing; frequent performance of activities requiring full range of body movement including bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, grasping, and climbing (on tall ladders); hand/eye and hand/foot coordination for operation of tools, equipment, and motor vehicles to pick up materials; vision to read reports, manuals, set plans, and monitor/observe lighting and technical instruments; hearing/listening for troubleshooting and warning signals; speech communication to provide technical information and instructions, and to communicate with employees, contractors, clients, and citizens. Work Environment: Works primarily in theatre/stage environment with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes; often works nights and weekends. Equipment Used: Tools and technical equipment common to stage production work; limited motor vehicle.

House Manager and Box Office Assistant -- Temporary
Job Title: House Manager and Box Office Assistant -- Temporary

This person is the first point of contact for patrons visiting the Aurora Fox. Work requires excellent customer service skills, professional appearance and demeanor, have temperament, tact and courtesy to meet with the public and to deal with difficult public relations situations, ability to work independently and to make quick decisions as needed, knowledge of basic accounting, working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. This person will be trained on turn-key ticket management software, emergency policies and other specific duties as needed. |
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: |
House Manager is responsible for opening and closing the theatre including the following detailed duties: arrive 1 hour 15 minutes prior to performance; upon arrival, check outside for obvious trash; unlock doors, turn on indoor/outdoor lights, check restrooms/house for cleanliness and comfort; set up concession area; greet and train usher staff, making sure playbills are stuffed and ready; place ticket bowls and playbills in the house and close house doors; communicate with Box Office staff and Stage manager for start of performance; count tickets and restock concession area; assist with concessions during intermission, communicate with stage manager for start of ACT II; return beverages to back-room refrigerator; count/verify concession cash; at the end of show, remain in the house area until all patrons have left; lock front doors; check bathrooms and house for any problems that need to be communicated to cleaning service; when backstage is clear, secure all doors, close house doors, turn off lights; set alarm, dismiss guard. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
Equivalent of 1 year of customer service experience. Interest and background in the performing arts helpful. |
12-week Internship in Marketing and Community Outreach

Unlike many internship programs, our interns will receive over 30 hours of formal training in the latest marketing techniques including social media and customer development. This internship will combine both classroom-style training and one-on-one mentoring. As an intern, you will also get plenty of hands-on experience including project development and management for our Mainstage Ambassador Program.
We are seeking an intern to learn the latest in Authentic Marketing and help us expand community awareness. This internship is easy to complete while you’re in school or working another job. It’s a perfect opportunity for entrepreneurs who are growing their own business but need new marketing knowledge, and for people seeking a career change or expansion who need to develop skills and build their resume. The dedicated team of professionals at The Aurora Fox and nationally recognized marketing consultants will support you every step of the way.

This is a non-paid internship for a non-profit arts organization. Compensation will include: extensive marketing training, theatre season tickets and professional contacts.
