About the Event

Intersectionality is a gripping play set inside a jail cell, where five women from vastly different backgrounds are detained following a housing protest. Forced into close quarters, they confront their biases, identities and shared humanity while navigating themes of housing insecurity, activism and systemic inequities.

The performance is part of the 2026 season of Destination Freedom Black Radio Days (DFBRD), which explores urgent issues affecting communities of color, including housing instability, ICE raids and social justice movements.

About Destination Freedom Black Radio Days

Destination Freedom Black Radio Days continues the legacy of journalist and activist Richard Durham, who created the original Destination Freedom radio series from 1948 to 1950. Durham challenged harmful media stereotypes and amplified themes of social and economic freedom until the program was shut down during the McCarthy era.

DFBRD carries forward that legacy, producing contemporary audio dramas that reflect ongoing struggles and resistance. Intersectionality is the first in a new DFBRD series focused on stories of the unhoused.

Produced and directed by multi-Emmy Award winner donnie l. betts and No Credits Productions LLC.
