AUDITIONS
Seeking local actors for all roles in SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE!, performing at the Aurora Fox from September 16 to October 18, 2025 directed by Kelly Van Oosbree!
Auditions will occur at the Aurora Fox (9900 E. Colfax Ave.) in five-minute time slots on Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30 between 5PM and 9PM by appointment only. Please check in for your audition at the Fox Box Office approximately 10 minutes before your audition.
ABOUT THE SHOW:
Relive the magic of your Saturday mornings with Schoolhouse Rock Live! This high-energy musical brings the classic animated series to life on stage, combining clever lyrics and unforgettable melodies with a live-action twist.
Follow Tom, a nervous young teacher, as he prepares for his first day in the classroom. As he tries to relax by watching TV, various facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, using the iconic tunes we all know and love. From "Conjunction Junction" to "I'm Just a Bill," each song is a delightful journey through math, science, history, and grammar. Perfect for audiences of all ages, this production promises to entertain and educate, reminding us that learning can be fun.

REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals begin on or around August 25, 2025. Most rehearsals will be during the day.
Technical rehearsals will begin September 11, 2025

Schoolhouse Rock Live will perform on the following schedule:
School performances at 10AM: 9/16, 9/18, 9/25, 9/30, 10/9, 10/14, 10/16
Public performances
Friday at 7:30PM- 9/19, 9/26, 10/3
Saturday at 6PM- 9/20, 9/27
Saturday at 2PM- 10/4, 10/11, 10/18
Sunday at 2PM- 9/21, 9/28, 10/5
Auditions will take place in five-minute time slots by appointment only on Tuesday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5-9 p.m. To sign up, please scroll to the bottom of the page and use the scheduler.
AEA contracts are available. Equity members, please be prepared to show your card when you check in to audition.
As a courtesy to other actors and the production team, if you sign up to audition and cannot attend, please cancel your appointment.

ABOUT THE AUDITION:
Please prepare a one-minute comedic monologue* and 16-32 bars of an upbeat musical theatre song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in the correct key for our accompanist. (Trent Hines will play the audition)
PREPARATION:
Schoolhouse Rock Live features an ensemble cast of 6- Tom and other characteers representing various parts of Tom’s personality.
Tom- a young teacher who has just earned his degree
"George"-Tom's romatic side
"Dori" Tom's goofy side- silly and playful
"Shulie"- Tom's sweet/genuine side- loves math.
"Joe"- Tom's cool/laid back side
"Dina"- Tom's Mature/grounded side

CASTING PRACTICES:
The Aurora Fox operates under an SPT agreement with Actors Equity Association. Equity members are encouraged to audition and will be considered for any role. SPT rates under our current contract are $400/week plus health and pension. Non-equity rates are $400/week.
